Business Plans: Signature Software

post time 23. June 2008 member admin

Along with fingerprints and DNA, a persons signature is one of the most sure ways of identifying them. This holds true for handwriting in general, but even more so with a signature because it is done almost without thought. Because a person has likely signed his or her own name thousands to tens of thousands of times, it has passed into muscle memory. This means that specific traits and patterns are inevitable and are difficult to duplicate.

Forgery is still a problem because a signature can be copied with surprising similarity. However just because two signatures look alike, does not mean that they were produced in the exact same manner. Every person has several distinct traits that arise when signing his or her own name. These traits include the speed with which the signature is made, the rhythm of the individual strokes, the amount of pressure applied to the pen, and the manner in which each letter is formed–or not formed as the case may be.

Such signature traits can be captured and recorded during the signing process. Called biometrics, these traits can be cataloged and compared to known biometric characteristics. Signature software not only allows people to submit electronic signatures (allowing companies to store signatures digitally rather than on paper) it can help them prove fraudulent signatures are indeed fraudulent. Because of the accuracy with which all of this can be done, electronic signatures are rapidly gaining legal status. Having quality signature software and equipment can be a great investment, especially since digitally stored records can be much easier to search and locate than traditional records and receipts.

The Legal Status of Electronic Signatures
In a majority of the United States and in developed nations around the globe, an electronic signature is considered legally binding for many purposes. The few purposes for which they are not acceptable are for signing marriage licenses, wills, and the like. For signing contracts and signing for packages, an electronic signature is as good as gold in many places. It is still not universal, though, so if you are interested you should check the laws in your particular state or province.

Business Plans: Presenting Skills

post time 22. June 2008 member admin

The ability to make a compelling presentation is one of the most highly valued skills in the business world. Presentations introduce new products, make sales and garner new clients, suggest mergers, train employees, and report to shareholders. Without qualified presenters in an organization, a company can severely limit its own potential. Fortunately, presentation skills can be readily learned and there are many outlets for gaining the necessary skills.

Many people carry the very common fear of public speaking. Whether to large groups or small, the idea of getting up in front of a room of people and making a presentation brings many people a sense of dread. More often than not, this fear is rooted in the fear of the unknown. Having never made a public speech, they make it out to be much more complex and difficult than it really is. All it takes is solid preparation, good organization, some fundamental skills, and confidence.

Preparation is nothing more than knowing your subject. The act of researching and familiarizing yourself with the specifics of a topic, and the prevailing theories concerning the topic, brings with it the confidence you need to make a presentation. Organization is simply putting your remarks in order and cross referencing them with your visual aids–so that you not only know what to say but also when to say it. A well-organized slide show can be quite helpful, and having a wireless remote with which to control the presentation can allow a speaker freedom to move around while presenting, as opposed to being trapped next to the computer.

Fundamental Presentation Skills
Any beginning public speaking course will tell you that connecting with your audience is absolutely critical. You should never turn your back on them. You should always speak clearly and at a medium pace so you do not confuse them or make them strain to hear you. Portable speakers can help with this problem. You should also not simply read from your slides–otherwise, why are you even there? Finally, you should try to maintain a calm, but engaged, demeanor if you are nervous. Modest self-deprecation and humor also go a long way to combating nervousness.

Business Plans: Wireless Computer Keyboards

post time 21. June 2008 member admin

Depending on the type you purchase, a wireless computer keyboard can serve both the functions of a traditional keyboard (including function and short-cut keys) and of a mouse. Such a keyboard usually replaces the mouse with a built-in trackball but there are other products which use different methods. Some advanced input devices utilize touchpad technology to combine the functions of a mouse and the special functions of a keyboard into a single, gesture-driven device.

Wireless keyboards come in all sizes, from folding micro keyboards and mini keyboards to standard keyboards and ergonomic keyboards. Most wireless keyboards communicate with the host computer with either infrared light or radio waves. Infrared keyboards must have a direct line of sight to the associated sensor in order to communicate. Radio frequency (RF) keyboards do not need a direct line of sight. In fact, RF keyboards can be pointed in the opposite direction and still work as long as they are within range. This can be helpful for especially dynamic speakers, who move around quite a bit.

When it comes to range, there is some dispute as to whether infrared or RF is more reliable. Range is not a constant. The strength of ones batteries often has a noticeable effect on the range of ones wireless device. The stated range of a device is usually an optimistic appraisal of a devices operable range with fresh batteries. Since your batteries will not always be fresh, you should get a device with a range that somewhat exceeds your requirements.

Buying Wireless Keyboards Online
There are so many resources online for purchasing wireless keyboards that it is almost ridiculous. Feel free to compare prices from a number of online retailers to find the best deal, but do not let price always be your deciding factor. There is definitely something to be said for companies who stand behind their products with warranties and provide you with good customer service after the sale. Also, and it should go without saying, but never make any transaction online unless it is over a secure connection and you know who is receiving your sensitive financial information.

Business Plans: Conference Room Keyboards

post time 20. June 2008 member admin

If you are looking to supply keyboards for every seat in your conference room, or every seat in every conference room you administrate, you can get outstanding deals. Buying in bulk is the single greatest way to save money on almost anything you buy. If you have a secondary goal of supplying your conference room/s with something a little flashier than the typical keyboard, you can find some intriguing products on the market.

There are the always appreciated ergonomic keyboards which provide wrist relief from clicking and typing at awkward angles. You can also get flat, placemat-style keyboards which can be rolled up and stored when not needed (though these are quite expensive). To eliminate the need for mice at every keyboard, you can get keyboards with built-in trackballs. Of course, you can also get custom keyboards made in specific colors or with your company logo on them for less than you might think.

If you are not buying for your company but for yourself and you want to impress your colleagues, you might consider a gesture-driven keyboard. These items are usually near the same size as a regular keyboard but they use touchpad technology rather than actual keys. Simply touching the corresponding space, types the character represented therein. These pads also have mouse controls and function controls that are controlled by hand gestures. (It is somewhat hard to explain in words; look for a retailer if you are interested.)

Consider Buying Wireless Keyboards
The only difficulty in buying wireless keyboards for a room is delegating who is responsible for making sure they all have batteries. If everyone handles his or her own, it is less of a problem. Wireless keyboards give a clean look to a table that is probably a product of having only recently started the move from a world connected by wires. Whatever the reason, wireless is the wave of the future.

Business Plans: Powerpoint Presentation Slides

post time 19. June 2008 member admin

PowerPoint presentation slides have become a dominant form of communication in the business community. Proponents of PowerPoint will say that the program has been nothing but good for the community while others will point out the fact that sometimes presenters seem to be more enthralled with the program itself rather than the information they are trying to convey. Whichever side of the argument you come down on, you must admit that PowerPoint has changed things.

PowerPoint is definitely the predominant presentation software on the market today–despite strong showings from OpenOffice and Apples Keynote software. (This is obviously partially due to Microsofts bundling of PowerPoint with its Microsoft Office operating system but that does not change the fact.) If you were doing a presentation later today, the chances are extremely good that you would be making that presentation with PowerPoint.

The ability to create and manipulate slides of bullet lists, graphics, and animations within PowerPoint makes it a useful tool. When you add the ability to import video clips and use plug-ins and add-ons from third-party developers, it becomes almost indispensable. In fact, some of the most exciting elements of PowerPoint presentations come not from PowerPoint itself but from these third-party contributions.

A Word about Responsible PowerPoint Use
Any time you become particularly enamored with a particular piece of digital trickery in your PowerPoint presentation, ask yourself whether it truly makes your presentation more understandable or more persuasive. Some people with clout in the business world complain that PowerPoint holds its users in thrall and makes them forget the point of their presentations. Those opinions are simply swimming against the tide, but they do have a point. Remember that the purpose of your presentation is to communicate ideas, not to show off.
